No tricks. Just treats!

The boys and I got one big "treat"on Wednesday afternoon. Grandpa Dan and Grandma Violet came to visit with us before heading up north to visit with more family. Oh, were we so excited! Like always, they came with presents/toys for the boys. Joshua got a shot gun. Nicholas got a cowboy pistol. Noah got a Texas Longhorns basketball. It was like having Christmas in October!

We had lots of fun playing outside in all the leaves that have fallen from our trees over the last few days. Grandpa and Grandma admired all the leaves because they don't have such a colorful autumn season down south. We hauled out the rakes and made a big leaf pile to jump in. Can you guess who was the first one to jump? Grandpa Dan! It's no wonder why my boys love him so! Later that evening, we decided it was time to carve our pumpkins. The boys had fun digging out all the pumpkin guts and deciding what kind of jack-o-lantern faces to make. I think we did a pretty good job this year thanks to Grandpa and Grandma's assistance!

Grandma Violet loves all the colored leaves especially when she gets to play in them with her Grand babies!

Here we are again. This time Grandma joined in on the carving craze.

Grandpa Dan has lots of years of pumpkin carving experience. To think that not all to long ago he was helping me carve my pumpkins. Now, he is here to help my kids! Thank you Dad/Grandpa.

Pumpkin Picking

One of my favorite things to do in the Fall is going pumpkin picking! This year we joined Joshua and his preschool class for some pumpkin picking fun. Nicholas was not able to go with us because of school. However, he did get to pick out his own pumpkin at the Commissary. He picked the biggest one he could carry!

Joshua and Noah did a great job choosing a pumpkin to bring home with us. Joshua picked a green pumpkin this year. He didn't even look at the orange pumpkins when it came time to choose one. I think we will have to carve his pumpkin like Frankenstein! Noah found his pumpkin with a little help from Mommy and Daddy. He wasn't very picky!

So many pumpkins.....so little time!

Joshua was content with the first pumpkin (or shall I say gourd) that he saw.

It was so hard for little Noah to walk in the pumpkin patch. All those vines had him falling flat on his tush and in some instances his face. Thank goodness for Daddy's shoulders!

Walking back towards the tractor ride.

Joshua thought this pumpkin was a good fit for Noah.
It was just a little too heavy, but he tried really hard to stand up with it anyway.

Cheese!

Mommy and her baby!

Attempting to pick up his very own pumpkin.

This one right here looks good.

Joshua and his new best friend Drew.

We saw lots of animals at Brautigam's Farm. There was a baby chicken perched on a toy barn. Noah was in awe!

Farmer Joshua feeding the cow.

Whoa...what is that Daddy?

Joshua and his friends feeding the goats.

Noah was not afraid to stick his little fingers through the fence and touch the goats.

Needless to say, we used lots of hand sanitizer!

Joshua's Preschool Open house

Last week, the entire family made a trip to Joshua's preschool for his Open House. Joshua was very excited about showing us all of his amazing art work that he created. The spotlight was on him and boy did he like the attention! He was so proud of all of his hard work. He did such a great job that I had to share his art with all of you. Enjoy!

A is for ark.

B is for butterfly.

D is for dots.

D is for dinosaur.

The letter E.

F is for feathers.

All about Joshua. I am not sure why he responded that he likes to play alone?
He LOVES to play with other kids!

This is his trick-or-treat pail that he will be taking on his field trip to go trick-or-treating at the assisted living center here in town.

Here is where Joshua sits.

Mommy's Mishap

It's amazing how fast events can occur. Our lives can change within seconds. Like for me, one second I am driving on the interstate and the next thing I know my car is in the median entangled with the median barrier cables. My heart is racing, my breathing is fast and heavy, and my limbs are shaking. I am shocked and in panic mode. Can this really be happening to me?

As most of you are aware, I was in a my first car accident on Thursday, October 15th. Talk about scary! For the record: I was not my fault. However, that doesn't seem to matter now because MY insurance will have to deal with the claim since I didn't catch the license plate number of the semi truck that so graciously ran me off the road. The furthestest thought from my mind at that moment was "hey let me get this guy's license plate number before I head into this median over here." I know that most of us (me especially) hate having to pay for insurance. Let me just say I am extremely grateful for it after the year we have been having. Claim #1: First, we get hit by a hail storm that damages our roof and siding. We have the siding repaired, but the roof is on hold at this time. We are still waiting for the remainder of the money for our roof. (Who knows if we will get it now. We will just be lucky if they don't drop our policy.) Claim #2: I totaled the car. We all know what that means.......higher insurance rates!

I guess I can't think of my accident this way. I must think of just how lucky I am to have walked away from this accident without any injuries. I must have had angels watching over me. I like to believe the angles names were Jessica and Kelli. http://www.jessicaandkelliuhl.com A couple years ago, these 2 teenage girls were killed on this interstate after a state trooper crossed the median and hit their car head on. Because of these two girls, the median barrier cables were installed. These girls/cables may have just saved my life.

This picture does not do my car justice. I took a beating from those barrier cables. There were parts ripped out from underneath the car and scattered in the median. My entire rear window and windshield is cracked. The back passenger window is busted out. As you can see, the front end is gone. The top of the car is dented and scratched. We have not heard back from the adjuster. However, I think I see a different car in our near future.

Papa Dan Would Be Proud

Noah loves hats! It doesn't matter if the hat is big or small. He attempts to wear them all. I must say he does wear them well because he looks so cute in them. His usual hat of choice is a baseball cap worn sideways. However, the other day he broke away from his norm. He came downstairs wearing his big brother Nicholas's cowboy hat. It was so Adorable! He kept it on for the majority of the afternoon. Occasionally, it would fall of his little head, but he would just pick it up and put it right back on. Here are some pictures of Noah, the little Texas Ranger, just for you Grandpa Dan.

Bella's 3rd Birthday!

On Wednesday, we celebrated Bella Marie's 3rd birthday. She is now 21 years old in dog years! Even though she is of legal age, she did not have a single alcoholic beverage. Instead, we ate cake and Bella enjoyed a cup of ice cream. Call me silly, but she is part of the family and it wouldn't be a birthday without some kind of celebration!

Bella's birthday cake

Singing happy birthday to the birthday girl! (Joshua didn't want to be in the picture)

Bella enjoying her birthday ice cream. As you can see, (look at her green paws) she enjoyed running around in the yard while Daddy cut the grass earlier that day.
