Our Summer Vacation

I know you are so excited to see a new post here on the Walter Family Blog! I am not going to give you a bunch of  "excuses" as to why I have not given you an update in forever (lets face it...I have been a slacker). Instead, I will fill you in on all the adventures we had this summer!

The month of July flew by for the boys and I. Daddy, on the other hand, had a very LONG July. He was busy serving our country overseas in a country called Qatar. He was there for about 30 days total. We were able to keep up with Daddy via Skype and occasional phone calls. We sure did miss him, but you know the saying..."When the cat is away the mice will play." Well, that is exactly what this mama mouse and her babies did. However, we decided to "play" in Texas!

The boys, Bella and I packed up the minivan and headed to Texas on July 12th. This was the first time we drove the 14 hour car ride to Grandpa Dan and Grandma Violet's house. I did not do this trip alone. I was able to follow my parents the entire way. The road trip was actually pretty easy! We broke the trip up into 2 days. We drove 8 hours the first day to Oklahoma City. We stayed over night with my Aunt Pam, Uncle Jorge, and Cousin Anthony. It was a short, but very sweet visit! The next day we finished the 6 hour drive from Oklahoma City to Cibolo,Texas.

The first outing we had during our summer vacation was with Grandpa Dan. He took Nicholas, Joshua, and I to a place called Natural Bridge Caverns. (Noah stayed behind with Grandma Violet and Great Grandma Ana) This was the boys' first time in a cavern. They really didn't know what to expect of the place. Once inside they were enthralled by the cavern and all it's magnificent natural rock formations. I must admit, it was pretty cool! The only thing that caught me off guard was that this cavern was actually warm inside. I remember going into the Meramac Caverns as a little girl with my family and it was chilly. This cavern was the complete opposite! Anyways, we had lots of fun and took many pictures for you to see! Thanks Grandpa Dan for a fun filled day with nature!

Looks like a fun trip Grandpa Dan planned. And, I am so happy they remembered us and brought back a rock for me. So glad you were able to spend the month with your family, Liz, but we sure missed you. Glad to have you and Nick back together again.
